Visit to the Museum of Oslo Univ. Norway |

I went to Oslo, Norway for a bussiness trip between 26. Sept to 1. Oct. I had hard work in the office building all through the trip, from morning to night, because I couldn't have any time to see the famouse sight in Oslo. In the friday night, I had finished all works of mine, then I was free in Saturday morning. I had to take a train to airport on 12:19 of Saturday, I had some time to see somewhere. Then I decided that I went to see the Mineral and Geological museum of Oslo University. On 10:30, I took a taxi for museum, because the Museum opens on 11:00. I had only little time to see the exihibitions in museum, so that I saw the minerals of all urgently. |

When I stepped into the museum, I saw a reception desk, and I payed 40 NOK for admission fee. I found a large skeltons of Dinosaurs in the center of exihibition room. And the right side and left side of the route, there are many rock specimens of all the world. At the left side, there are some Meteorites, and next corner, there are many Volcanic materials, and the next, there are many Fossils. I thought that the corner was exhibited to list by theme. All the labels and explains are written by Norwegian language, then I could understand only little. I
had to use of all knowledge of my rock and mineral. In the special exihibition corner, there are many rocks and minerals of Kongsberg Mine where located the west of Oslo city.
I finished seeing the exhibition of 1st floor and went out of the exhibition room. Then, the museum attendant spoke to me in English. He said to me that the 2nd floor is another exihibition room, there are many minerals, you should see the exhibition room of the second floor. Then I went to upstairs.

In the second floor, there are many minerals, not only Norwegian but all of the world. I had only 15 minutes to see it, then I had to select to see the specimens, just like large and sharp crystal of minerals, or Norwegian mineral collections. Those labels are written by Norwegian language, too. And I could understand only little, too. But the spellings are simillar to English, I could read some labels.
This time, I didn't have Digital camera, because the aim of trip is business. In no other way, I took some picture by my Mobile Phone. When the next coming, I will surely bring my digital camera and take many pictures of specimens. |

After seeing exihibitions, I went to museum shop. There are some specimens of minerals, but the price is too expensive, so that I didn't buy it. I asked to the museum attendant that I want to have a pamphlet of museum, then he gave it to me. (See picture under this column.)
I want to spent time all day long in this Museum, but I must go back to Japan right now. I thought that the museum is the most interesting and exciting I've ever seen.
I took a taxi for Hotel and picked up my baggage, then I took a train to airport. It is a long way to Oslo from Japan, but I want to go back there, I think. |
